General Information
CUSD #2 is a large district totaling 124 square miles. This distance is covered by 13 morning and afternoon bus routes plus numerous routes for students with special academic or educational needs. Regular transportation is provided by the Board of Education as a service to the students in the district. All drivers are tested and properly qualified for this responsibility. The driver is in charge and has been given complete control over the students riding his/her bus.
Transportation Rules
Following, you will find a list of rules for proper conduct on all transportation routes. These rules are designed to insure safe and efficient transportation to and from school.

1. Be on time at the designated bus stop, this helps keep the bus on schedule.
2. Stay off the road at all times while waiting for the bus.
3. Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before attempting to enter the bus. Be careful in approaching the place where the bus stops.
4. Keep hands and head inside the bus at all times after entering and until leaving the bus. Windows may not be lowered below the stop line painted on the body pillar.
5. Assist in keeping the bus safe and sanitary at all times. No eating is allowed on the bus.
6. Remember that loud talking and laughing or unnecessary confusion diverts the driver’s attention and may result in a serious accident.
7. Never tamper with the bus or any of its equipment.
8. Keep books, packages, coats, and all other objects out of the aisles and take all articles with you when you leave.
9. Be courteous to fellow pupils and the bus driver and help look after the safety and comfort of smaller children while on the bus and after leaving the bus.
10. Do not throw anything out of the bus window.
11. Do not leave your seat while the bus is in motion.
12. Be absolutely quiet when approaching a railroad crossing stop.
13. In case of a road emergency, remain in the bus until instructions are given by the driver.
14. At a discharge point, where it is necessary to cross the highway, proceed to a point at least 10 feet in front of the bus on the right shoulder of the highway and remain there until a signal is given by the bus driver to cross.
15. Be alert to a danger signal from the driver.
16. Do not ask the driver to stop at places other than the regular bus stop; he is not permitted to do this except by proper authorization from a school official.
17. Observe the same rules and regulations on other trips under school sponsorship as you observe between home and school. In addition, respect the wishes of the chaperone appointed by the school.
18. Students may not ride another bus unless approved at least one day in advance by the Principal and Superintendent. Also, the bus will only stop for students at the designated stop unless arrangements have been approved by the transportation director.
19. Riding the school bus is a privilege which may be taken away from anyone who consistently ignores these rules.
