Mr. Adam West

Principal

July 30, 2017

Hello and welcome to Serena High School! I am please to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff and community as principal. I am excited to be a part of a school and community that has a small family environment but still wants a progressive and forward thinking education. I am looking forward to working with your child, our staff  along with parents and community members, in order to make sure that each student has multiple opportunities for their life after high school.

I started my teaching career in Plano where I taught various Social Studies classes before moving into the role of guidance counselor. I was fortunate to coach the majority of my career and served as head coach in both wrestling and track and field for 7 and 3 years, respectively, at Plano. I spent 4 years as a dean at Metea Valley High School in Aurora where student management and attendance was my focus. We were a young building and had a great opportunity to help establish a positive culture and climate as well as institute policies and procedures.  I spent the past two years at Yorkville High School where I  served as the Associate Principal of Students Services. In this position, I  supported both the Guidance and Special Education departments last year and during my first year served as the Assistant Principal at the freshmen academy building where I was in charge of the day to day operations. I am hoping that all of these experiences will help in supporting the students and staff at Serena High School.  Personally, my wife Becky and I live  in Yorkville with our three children, Mack(10), Annabel (9) and Abby (4) and our dog Hank.

I cannot wait for our students to fill these halls again and bring life to the building. The best part of my day is to witness the wonderful things that our young people are doing. It will be an outstanding school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you have. Thank you, and remember that, "It's always a great day to be a Husker!!

Sincerely,

Adam West
