The Serena High School Band had a wonderful performance at the Midwest Music Festival this past Saturday at Lemont High School. Great job Mr. Pierce and all the members of the band!

Congrats to the SHS Academic Bowl team on their wins at this week's home meets! The team is now 6-2 for the season. Great job!

Today we celebrated our February students of the month. It was great having the teachers share the amazing ways these students contribute to Serena in a positive way. Thank you to those in the school community that help support this monthly recognition.

Tomorrow, Tuesday February 20th we will be holding a pep rally to support both the Lady Huskers and the Huskers at 2:15 in the high school gym. The Lady Huskers continue their playoff run this week with sectional action while the Huskers begin regionals this week. Families of the players and members of the community are welcome to attend. Please enter through the cafeteria doors. Parking will not be available near the main entrance due to bus pick up required at the end of the day. Go Huskers!

Congratulations to our SHS Pep Band Seniors! They still have a final concert performance this spring, but their time of playing at SHS sporting events has come to an end. Thank you for your dedication these past four years! Hannah Hardyman, Tim Shugrue, Charlie Woods

Congratulations to Ava Rosengren on her musical accomplishments last month! She was named the only piccolo player, earning 2nd place in the state. Well done, Ava! Way to represent Serena with your hard work and dedication.

This week is National School Counseling Week! A huge shout out goes to Ms. Hoppis, Serena High School Counselor, who does an amazing job with our students. She works very hard to make sure all our students are successful and to give them the opportunities to explore their interests. Thank you Ms. Hoppis.

Today we celebrated the January Students of the Month. Thank you to those in the community that continue to help support and recognize our great students here at Serena. Today these students were described by their teachers as leaders, role models, and positive. Keep it up!

Due to icy road conditions, all Serena CUSD 2 schools will have an e learning day on Tuesday, January 23. All special education routes and transportation to the Indian Valley Vocational Center are cancelled.

Due to icy road conditions, all Serena Unit 2 schools will have an e learning day on Monday, January 22. All extra curricular activities are cancelled. All special education routes and transportation to the Indian Valley Vocational Center are cancelled.

Due to extremely cold temperatures, all Serena CUSD 2 schools (Serena High, Serena Middle, Sheridan Grade, and Harding Grade) will have an e-learning day for Tuesday, January 16. All athletic contests are cancelled. The Indian Valley Vocational Center and special education routes for Serena Unit 2 students are also cancelled.

Both SHS Girls and Boys basketball games Saturday, January 13 have been cancelled due to weather.

Due to the forecast for heavy snow tomorrow and the potential for hazardous road conditions throughout the day, Serena High School and all other Serena CUSD 2 schools will have an e-learning day for Friday, January 12. Students should follow instructions sent to them by their school and teachers. High school students will have materials delivered through Google Classroom and email communication. All extra-curricular activities and practices for Friday, January 12 are cancelled. All special education routes and the Indian Valley Vocational Center are cancelled. A decision regarding Saturday's activities will be made at a later time.

Good morning Serena, I hope everyone has enjoyed their time with family and friends. This is a precautionary email for students. I am sure everyone has seen the impending weather forecast for tonight into tomorrow. With that in mind, if your chromebook is still here at school I am inviting you to come in today from now until 2:30 to pick up your chromebook if you are able. There is a possibility that tomorrow will be an E-Learning day and if so, you will need your chromebook at home.
