Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,
It appears that we are receiving the bad weather as predicted earlier. The roads are extremely icy and dangerous this evening. I would recommend not traveling this evening, unless absolutely necessary. Several local school districts have already declared full Remote Learning Days for tomorrow and I believe there will be many more joining the list from this point forward tonight.
Therefore, we will be implementing our approved E-Learning plan tomorrow declaring tomorrow a full Remote Learning Day, Friday, February 5th. If you have any questions or concerns about learning expectations, I would recommend emailing your building principal or teachers directly.
Also, if you are in need of food service tomorrow, please email Debbie Fuchs directly tonight or tomorrow morning to place your order at dfuchs@unit2.net. Pickup time will start at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at the HS cafeteria. Hopefully, the roads will be cleared by then. Regardless, drive safely and cautiously if you are in need of food service tomorrow.

Notification from: Serena CUSD #2 (Admin)
Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,
The LaSalle County Sheriff's Department has requested to use our MS and HS building this afternoon as a training ground, Friday, January 29th, from approximately 3:00 to 7:00. We want to help LCSD prepare as best they can for any type of school related emergencies that could occur at any school building, ours or any other local school district building. Therefore, after all of our students and staff have left the building today, they will begin a series of practice drills.
Most of the training this afternoon will be relatively quiet, however you may see emergency vehicles around the building and an increase in police presence, flashing lights, sirens, etc. Please do not be alarmed. If you have any questions or concerns about this afternoons training, please feel fee to call the high school or middle school main office.

FYI - After receiving a road report this morning, the roads are still very icy and slippery with some drifting and more snow possibly on the way, so we will be calling a SNOW DAY today. Yesterday, we discussed implementing a Remote Learning Day but after having further conversation with my Leadership Team last night and talking with other superintendents in the area, it appears that it would be best, and in alignment with other local school districts, to implement an old fashioned snow day today.
Please be careful if you have to drive today.

We have had some inquiries into e-learning and options moving forward. Here is some information that may help to clear up any confusion.
1. If you have opted for e-learning you will be on the list until the 9 weeks are finished and can re-evaluate at that time
2. If you have opted for in-person learning the same thing applies
3. If you have been exposed to COVID or tested positive, you will be put on temporary remote. This is so the student does not fall behind

Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday break. Just a couple announcements and reminders for your return tomorrow 1/6/21.
Reminder: no hats are to be worn on the premises. You will be asked to remove them once in school, including the halls and classrooms

Bring with and return any books/equipment for any class changes that you are no longer taking
All course changes MUST be done by the end of day Friday 1/8/21. Please stop by and see Ms. Hoppis or email her by 3p.m at jhoppis@unit2.net. No changes are possible after that date and time
Reminder: social distance and wear face masks properly
Reminder: bring certification slip and give to bus drivers or teacher/admin when coming into school
If your student has decided to continue remote learning, let us know ASAP. Even if they have been since the start of the school year, update the school please

Here we go...., final push to the end of the semester and winter break. Today is a “B” day. Please follow your schedule as if you were in the building. Make sure you are attending all zoom meeting and finish all assignments.

Update from food services!!
Friday, December 18, we will have food service available through pick-up or delivery once again. There will be 5 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch meals available for each child that is 18 or under, and that resides within your household.
The food items that will be available will be similar to those distributed during our last food service day. Some items will need to be frozen or refrigerated and require preparation while others will be grab-and-go items. Please contact Debra Fuchs, Director of Food Service for CUSD #2 @ 815-792-5410 or email dfuchs@unit2.net directly, if you are interested.
Pick-up location will be the front door of the Sheridan Grade School or you may choose to have your meals delivered to your home on Friday, December 18. Pick-up and delivery times will be between 10:30 and 12:30. The deadline for orders will be on Wednesday, December 16, by 5:00 p.m.
There is no cost for the meals. (The cost of the meals are covered through our Free and Reduced Lunch Program). However, we will need the following information to process your order appropriately:
The number of children in your home.
The last name that the order will be placed under. (We do not need the individual names of the children.)
Do you want Pick-up or Delivery?
If pick-up, we will need your phone number.
If you wish to have the food delivered, we will need your address and phone number.

Good morning all,
Picture retake day is scheduled for Thursday, December 10th from 8:30-11:00. This is available for remote students, students that missed the original picture day and students who want to have their pictures retaken. If you already had pictures and received them, please bring them back with you to have them retaken.
