Last Friday, Mrs. Goldman’s 6th grade Science classes visited the Herbert Trackman Planetarium. The Planetarium is a large dome with a state-of-the-art digital projection system that gives students the opportunity to participate in interactive sky tours - exploring constellations and planets. Students also visited JJC’s Laura A. Sprague Art Gallery and the Cronin Schoolhouse. The one room schoolhouse was built in 1863 - children in grades one through eight attended school at Cronin.

⚖️ Honoring Law Day ⚖️
Today, our students had the incredible opportunity to learn from the best! In honor of Law Day, we welcomed Judge Anderson & Judge Eiten for a powerful presentation titled, "Worries of the World Wide Web."
The Judges talked to the students regarding the digital footprints they leave behind. They talked about:
☑️The real-world consequences of sharing photos and sending messages via the internet and messaging apps
☑️The impact of cyberbullying and the consequences tied to it
☑️Real-life incidents and the legal/personal ramifications that followed
Judge Anderson & Judge Eiten made it clear that what happens online has very real consequences offline.
THANK YOU to Judge Anderson & Judge Eiten for taking the time to speak with our students!

Please ask your student to check the Lost & Found!
Items not claimed by end of school day on Tuesday, May 5 will be donated to charity.
Thank You

Congratulations to our "StEPs" May Calendar winners: 5/2-Nicole Znaniecki, 5/9-Brian Caba, 5/10-Laurie Clausel, 5/16-Kathi Hermann, 5/23-Hayley Wooten, 5/25-Candi Hawk, 5/30-Candice Jenness. Thank you all for your continued support to Serena Middle School students and staff.

To the Moon and Beyond: 6th Grade Hosts NASA Engineer!
It isn’t every day that students have an opportunity to talk to someone who has a hand in making history, but this past Monday was truly out of this world!
SMS was honored to virtually welcome Mr. Joseph Pavicic, a Launch Integration Operations Project Engineer for NASA.
Mr. Pavicic brought the excitement of space exploration right into Mrs. Goldman’s classroom. The students learned about Mr. Pavicic’s career and his contributions to the Artemis II mission.
On launch day, Mr. Pavicic served as the CPROP Lead Console Engineer and System Specialist for the Cryogenic Propulsion Team. Prior to his role with Artemis II, Mr. Pavicic served as the Launch System Specialist Manager for the Main Propulsion System and Engines team for Artemis I and as a member of the official Launch Team that successfully sent the Orion spacecraft to the moon.
Mr. Pavicic also shared a powerful motivational message with the students. He spoke about the importance of perseverance, hard work and the courage to dream big.
We are so thankful to Mr. Pavicic for taking the time to inspire our students and show them that the sky is definitely not the limit!
