Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We are proud to recognize and celebrate the invaluable work of our School Resource Officer - Deputy Tongate. School Resource Officers play a vital role in creating safe and supportive learning environments. Deputy Tongate serves as an educator, mentor and law enforcement - with the goal of ensuring our students and staff feel secure, supported and connected. At Serena Middle School, we can can count on Deputy Tongate to: 🔺Maintain Safety & Security Conduct regular safety checks, monitor the building and school grounds and support our emergency readiness plans. 🔺Promote Prevention & Positive Choices Address concerns with professionalism and care and use a preventative approach to guide students toward safe and responsible behavior. 🔺Educate Students & Staff Talk with students and staff about safety, law and conflict resolution - while building a meaningful relationship that helps students make good decisions. 🔺Collaborate With The Community Serve as a trusted liaison between CUSD 2 and local law enforcement to ensure that there is coordinated support for our students and staff. Deputy Tongate’s positive presence, dedication and commitment to the Serena Middle School community makes a tremendous impact. She is not only a protector of SMS - but also a mentor, educator and role model for our students. THANK YOU Deputy Tongate for all that you do to keep Serena Middle School safe and to support the well-being of our entire community! 🇺🇸We are grateful for your service today and every day!
