Who is this dedicated group? ⭐️ The PARAPROFESSIONALS ⭐️ On any given day, you can find paras at SMS ... ✏️Providing One-On-One Support Ensuring that every student, regardless of their learning style, feels confident and capable. ✏️Being An Encourager Offering a kind word or a high-five exactly when a student needs it most. ✏️Keeping Teachers Gears Turning Assisting teachers with classroom management and helping the school day run smoothly and safely. ✏️Building Connections Developing mentorships that help our students navigate the "messy" Middle School years with grace. Middle School is a time of immense growth, and SMS is lucky to have a great group of paras that guide our students! Ayrana is the winner of the Quarter3 Positive Behavior Referral Raffle - a $25 Walmart gift card.

Students have the opportunity to earn Positive Behavior Referrals from any member of the Middle School Staff.

For each Positive Behavior Referral earned, students earn a star for their locker and a chance to win the $25 Walmart gift card at the end of the grading quarter.

The $25 Walmart gift card was donated by Eureka Savings Bank.

On March 19th, SMS Student Council & LaSalle County Sheriff Deputy Tongate hosted the Polar Plunge event, the culmination of the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run Cool School Challenge. Each year, this statewide campaign raises funds for Special Olympics programming, including year-round training, athletic competition, health education, leadership development and personal growth opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through this event, schools across the state join together to raise awareness and support for inclusion in athletics and our local communities. Students who raised at least $100 were able to “take the plunge" in honor of Special Olympics Illinois athletes. In addition to "taking the plunge, " students and staff attended the Polar Plunge Assembly. At the assembly, students heard from Special Olympics Illinois athlete Brandon Brown. Brandon talked about his experiences as an athlete and reminded the students that they too can achieve their dreams! SMS students & staff raised $9125 for Special Olympics Illinois! THANK YOU for your continued support, as we strive to provide the students with many learning experiences.
