End Of Year Fun!
Today, SMS 7th graders spent the morning at Top Golf and then stopped by Portillos for lunch!

Yesterday, the 8th grade class had the opportunity to go on the Radium Girls of Ottawa Tour.
The tour took the students on a journey into the lives of the women who worked at the Radium Dial Company in the early 20th century. These women, known as the Radium Girls, were tasked with painting watch and instrument dials using radium-based paint—a highly radioactive substance. Students learned about the devastating consequences of exposure to radium. The students visited places where these women lived, worked and now rest, as well as monuments and murals commemorating their "Shining Lives." In addition, students heard about the Radium Girls courageous fight for justice as they battled illnesses like radiation poisoning and cancer, and their role in a legal case that helped shape modern workplace safety regulations and workers' rights.
The students enjoyed lunch at Pizza Hut and spent some time at the park, with some fishing too!
