Near and far, the Husker took the wins on the hardwood tonight!

At home, 5th & 6th Girls Basketball took back to back wins against the visiting Morris ICS Angels.

At Indian Creek, our 7th & 8th Girls Basketball also brought the double win. Arie (7th) and Justice (8th) earned the Husker Hustle Award, and Reagan earned it at the Lisbon game last week.

Serena Middle School Student Council would like to recognize our veterans while giving back to Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor. For that last several year at the Veterans Day program held in Serena High School gym, the Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor have presented individualized handmade quilts to our local veterans.

The front design on the t-shirt displays a seal of all military branches with the American flag on the back. A several options are available for color and sizes. All profits from the sales will be presented to Illinois Valley Quilts of Valor.

8th grade students recently completed a pumpkin still life project. They used blacks and grays to practice, shadowing techniques and added pops of color using crayons covered in a black watercolor paint overlay. Nice Work!

Seventh grade had a little fun making giant concentric leaves, filled with radiating colors and their name. Great Work!

5th grade had the opportunity to create some amazing pumpkins - using many elements of art, to give the pumpkin form. Students also practiced contouring. To finish the pumpkin, students applied a water overlay on their Crayola markers, to blend the pumpkins colors. Amazing Work!

Tonight was a busy night for SMS Girls Basketball teams.

5th & 6th traveled to Mazon to play MVK Mavericks.
5th lost 7-8
6th won 17-5

7th & 8th hit the Husker Hardwood against Lisbon Lions.
7th lost 20-32
8th lost 9-39

Mrs. Scott’s 5th grade Social Studies class recently finished a unit of study that focused on the Early Civilizations. Students learned how indigenous communities used totem poles to tell stories, honor heritage and preserve family traditions. To connect this historical concept to their own lives, students designed totem poles featuring symbols, images and items that reflect their personal interests and family traditions.
